Have you heard of the Flash?

No.

[brat]

Unfortunate.
Rooftop. Five minutes.

( which rooftop? whichever is associated with the building he's currently in. )

[batsymbol]

( it’s wayne tower. of course.

he goes up. not in the suit. looking as though he’d been trying to get some sleep before forcing himself out of bed to meet with damian on the roof. hand running down his face slowly, blue eyes spot the other as he heads over, steps slow. )

What is it?

[brat]

( he's still recovering from laura accidentally skewering him, bandages wrapped around his midsection under his robin uniform, but damian's tells are difficult to spot; he tries not to lean too heavily onto his opposite side, keeps muscles carefully lax rather than tenses.

but that's irrelevant.

damian's called bruce here for something else. something he likely should have mentioned earlier but it'd been a lower priority with everything else that had come up. he's sitting on the edge of the rooftop, still decked out in his gear as he finishes the sandwich he'd brought on his patrol for a snack. )

We have an enemy among us. One who will be difficult to. . . contain, let alone manage elsewise.

( hands gently sliding in the pockets of his slacks, he blinks a bit in an attempt to wake himself up a little more. focusing. brow furrowing some when damian goes and mentions the possibility of an enemy being here. )

This Flash?

[brat]

No. ( his mouth twists into a scowl, eyes focused on shinra hq across from them rather than bruce himself. )

The Flash is here, but it's one of his rogues I am concerned about. The Reverse-Flash, if you would. They're speedsters. Are you familiar with the concept?

[batsymbol]

Reverse-Flash.

( deadpanned. what an... original name. )

Concept of what?

[brat]

Speedsters.

( from what damian's aware of with thawne, the name is likely intentional. he has a personal connection to barry allen, it isn't just them being rivals due to thawne wanting something and allen being in the way. but they also haven't been among his top concerns as of late. )

Metahumans with the ability to tap into the Speed Force. It's a cosmic energy field, one of the seven forces of the universe.

[batsymbol]

( ... )

Ok.

( it's really all he can say to that. all of this just sounds... surreal to him, what with having absolutely nothing like this in his own gotham. )

[brat]

Right. I'll simplify it.

( since bruce has... no idea what he's talking about. )

The Flash can evacuate the entire population of Gotham in less than twenty seconds, just by running in and grabbing everyone. And he is not even the fastest speedster.

[batsymbol]

So an evil Flash capable of running very fast is here?

( "evil", bad, what have you. )

[brat]

A bad one and a "good" one, yes. The good one is an annoyance but isn't a concern.

( barry is tolerable. )

[batsymbol]

What concerns do you presently have?

( since he wouldn't be telling him this if he didn't have any. )

[brat]

( hold on, he's - shoving the last bit of his sandwich into his mouth, and brushing his hands off against his legs to remove any crumbs. )

If he is similar to the one from my universe, his obsession with the Flash makes him dangerous, but containable. If the Flash were to disappear, we would lose the one element keeping him from becoming a loose cannon who could, without remorse or pause, kill nearly every living creature within this containment field before you or I even had the opportunity to blink. My father had contingency plans for keeping them in line if necessary, but they mostly relied on others. And with speedsters, they think as fast as they move. You may be able to use a move once, but it won't work again. They'll recognize what you're going for the moment you start toward it.

( he ripped up damian's bat and damian's mad about it. )

[batsymbol]

( he stands there and listens. mulls over everything damian tells him before he slowly starts towards the ledge there near damian. stares off towards the skyline. )

Confinement could work, if he needs the space to move around. I imagine extreme cold would as well with slowing the body down naturally. If he needs to see where he's going, blinding him could work in a pinch.

[brat]

He doesn't need space. The Reverse-Flash can vibrate through most containment fields, and needing to see where he's going isn't required. He also heals significantly quicker than average humans.

( but they're all good starting points, especially for one who just became aware of the existence of speedsters. )

S.T.A.R labs is not quite what I am accustomed to, but it may have resources we could use. The Flash would be a good starting point. Superman may be capable of keeping up with him. But it would be best to ensure we are prepared for the potential we may have to fight him without outside assistance.

[batsymbol]

( everyone has a weakness, damian, and he stands by his thoughts. )

I'm guessing you're going to take care of that?

[brat]

No. ( his nose scrunches up, as if he hates the thought of just - leaving it like that. but. ) Not yet. Given the timing of when missions have been occurring, I need to use this time to ensure I am ready for the next one.

I'll leave preparing for the Reverse Flash to you.

[batsymbol]

( slowly, he looks over to damian there. )

I'm not the best suited for that and you know it.

[brat]

You're Batman.

( this is a weakness bruce will need to overcome at some point. )

Out of an abundance of caution, I will be temporarily suspending my activities as Robin.

[batsymbol]

( he gives damian a look at that. )

Why?

[brat]

I'm wounded.

( obviously. damian twists around, so he's more facing bruce than shinra headquarters. )

Not terribly. But I wasn't able to fend off the Reverse Flash while I was at my best, I won't be able to now if he opts to go for a recognizable target, and I don't want to hinder my healing. Especially if the next mission is anything like the last three.

[batsymbol]

( the level of concern there on his face... it's been awhile since the plush incident beneath the tower. )

What happened?

[brat]

It was an accident and not one that is worth revisiting.

( the surface scratches to his face were nothing. this is close to nothing; damian's hardly concerned over it. if anything big did happen, he would immediately suit back up to lend a hand. in the meantime, he can use the downtime to rest, and encourage bruce to be less--secluded. )

I'm managing fine on my own.
